Your Inner Voice

Posted August 22 2013

How often do you listen to your intuition? I find myself being more and more attuned with my intuition, spirit guides, angels, higher self, whatever you may call that inner voice. I suppose I always have throughout life, it is always there and never leaves but I learned the more a person does not listen the quieter that inner voice becomes. And, of course, the more a person listens the louder it becomes.

I use to think that something this special, a connection so beautiful and seemingly magical, was for important missions or life lessons only. Thinking about it now, and snickering, I have realized it's about literally everything from not forgetting to feed the cat to not turning on a specific road to avoid an accident. Although, because I am a stubborn person, I have not listened sometimes and wished I had later.

There is no special trick to this, just listen. I started off by playing "games", after all I believe my spirit guides love to interact and have fun too! But it was as simple as going with the amount of clothes hangers I would grab from the closet and seeing how close I was to the exact amount after hanging everything up. Or if I can not find something a picture would flash into my mind of where it would be. At first it was hit or miss but the more I utilized what we are all born with, and capable of doing, it became easier. I don't always get it on the first “guess” but pretty close! I have been doing things like this for a long while and listening rather than ignoring something. Now I hear everyday, throughout the day. Even if it's little things, like a picture flashing in my mind that my paintbrushes and paints would dump on the floor if I didn't close the latches on my storage box...which, by the way, stubborn me didn't listen. I told “my self” that I would remember to close it when I moved it later. I didn't, everything spilled, everywhere. Those are the moments that I talk to “my self” out loud saying “I should have listened & when am I going to learn?” and other ramblings, seeming like a crazy person. :)

There are a few different kinds of guides:

Ascended Masters- Believed to be spiritually enlightened beings who in past incarnations were ordinary humans, but who have undergone a series of spiritual transformations originally called initiations. These are guides often found by people who do energy work, such as Reiki.

Ancestral Guides- Just as it states, these guides are ancestral or some blood connection to family.

Teacher Guide- They are known to provide insight by way of dreams or meditation, and may only hang around as long as you need them, then move on. They can appear as a warrior, a wise woman or storyteller...whatever the symbolism may be to help you on your path at that point in your life.

Animal Guides- An animal guide could be a beloved pet that had passed away that will stay by your side to provide comfort. Or, as Native Americans and Shamans believe, all animals have lessons to teach and have healing or inspirational power.

Your guides are for the greater good and will never steer you wrong, even if sometimes it seems to not make sense...there is a reason for it all. Let it be known, however, that if you ever hear thoughts of negativity, thoughts telling you that you cannot accomplish something or thoughts of not being good enough, these thoughts are not your guides but rather your ego or something else negative.

I hope you, if not already, open yourself up to possibilities. It's as simple as listening.

Until next time. Blessed Be.
